WHAT IS A SHORT SALE? ______________________
A short sale is when a property is sold with an agreement with the lender for less than is owed on the mortgage:
- The homeowner must be distressed, which means they are behind on payments and facing foreclosure.
- A short sale package, which is an extensive set of documents, must be provided to the lender to prove that you qualify for a short sale.
- If the lender agrees to a short sale and there is a buyer for the property then the transaction continues as normal.
